A new vision for agriculture
momagri, movement for a world agricultural organization, is a think tank chaired by Christian Pèes.
It brings together, managers from the agricultural world and important people from external perspectives,
such as health, development, strategy and defense. Its objective is to promote regulation
of agricultural markets by creating new evaluation tools, such as economic models and indicators,
and by drawing up proposals for an agricultural and international food policy.

Québec, September 26, 2014 : At the presentation of the research paper on “Improving our Understanding of Markets and the Readability of Agricultural Strategies” , the leaders of Limagrain and La Coop Fédérée will offer previews of the first-ever independent rating agency dedicated to agriculture––the momagri Agency

A radical change in monitoring agricultural markets and policies

The Agency’s objective is to foster a new dynamic in the analysis and assessment of global agriculture, thanks to innovative tools, especially concerning agricultural market instability, food security and public agricultural strategies.

Driven by the cooperatives’ values, the momagri Agency was designed to improve our understanding of global agricultural challenges, agricultural market transparency and the international cooperation between all agricultural activities worldwide.

The momagri Agency has already designed two innovative indicators to improve decision-making, and gave priority to two subject matters: Comparing public agricultural policies and the agricultural and food security.


An improved overview of international agricultural strategies: The SGPAA Indicator

The SGPAA (Global Support to Agricultural and Food Production) Indicator assesses the actual public support granted to the agricultural and food sector by each nation, thanks to an international budget nomenclature that allows:
    • Comparisons that are adapted to the reality of agricultural policies;
    • And the identification of the support features that are unique to each country.
The creation of a founding concept: The Food Solvability Indicator (ISA)

The ISA Indicator imparts an additional and necessary view to the existing food security indicators. It assesses the capability of a given country to achieve the best possible level of food security, according to its economic and agricultural specificities, know-how and its agricultural and food policies implemented.

Other indicators are currently being developed jointly with various international organizations, and several publications on market and country analyses will be available in the near future.
