A new vision for agriculture
momagri, movement for a world agricultural organization, is a think tank chaired by Pierre Pagesse, President
of Limagrain. It brings together, managers from the agricultural world and important people from external
perspectives, such as health, development, strategy and defense. Its objective is to promote regulation
of agricultural markets by creating new evaluation tools, such as economic models and indicators,
and by drawing up proposals for an agricultural and international food policy.
momagri also resolved to improve conditions for better visibility to optimize
the assessment of the various national situations and the consequences
of national, bilateral or multilateral decisions.

This is the reason why momagri decided to set up the momagri agency,
a rating agency for agriculture and its related issues.

• It will rate international agricultural policies and practices by providing pertinent, credible and
reliable information to the various concerned parties (agricultural organizations, governments,
businesses, NGOs and international institutions);
• It will provide international decision-makers with steady guidance and consultancy services in
the field of agriculture and its related issues;
• It will strive to enhance market performance while respecting free competition.

In fact––contrary to other economic activities such as finance, the environment or labor––there
is no procedure or indicator to supply data that is precise, recurrent and conclusive enough on
agricultural markets and implemented policies.  The planned agency will support principles of
openness regarding the procedures to meet the required criteria, all the more so since
the financial meltdown of 2008/09.

Objectives of the momagri agency

The goals of the momagri agency include:

• Designing tools to assess the state of agricultural markets;
• Evaluating risks in agricultural markets and their potential consequences;
• Perfecting the clarity of agricultural strategies at the global level;
• Anticipating market failures in order to prevent crises;
• Providing international decision-makers with new orientations and tools to assist policy
decisions;
• Promoting international cooperation and regulation for agriculture and food.

The momagi agency program
