A new vision for agriculture
momagri, movement for a world agricultural organization, is a think tank chaired by Pierre Pagesse, President
of Limagrain. It brings together, managers from the agricultural world and important people from external
perspectives, such as health, development, strategy and defense. Its objective is to promote regulation
of agricultural markets by creating new evaluation tools, such as economic models and indicators,
and by drawing up proposals for an agricultural and international food policy.

The “Assessments and Ratings” section is the precursor of one of the methods the assessment and rating agency, which momagri has decided to create for 2007, in order to inform the public.

In this section momagri will publish advice, recommendations or alerts depending on the gravity of situations (international negotiations, environmental or social dumping, anti-competitive national practices...) concerning the world’s agriculture.

The rating agencies have a significant impact in the financial sector.  Their action plays a large part in guiding company policies and is taken into account by government bodies.

In our case, the procedure is the same: entrusting experts in various fields with the assessment and rating of agricultural markets, in line with a set of directives which has been agreed and consented to by all parties concerned, means we can acquire the capacity to make analyses and forecasts and regulate them in full possession of the facts and with complete transparency.

We must remember that momagri’s aim is to set up a regulatory system, which will adjust market excesses and consequently increase the benefits linked to the liberalization of international exchange.

These models and how the Rating Agency functions will be described in the “Proposals and Missions” section.
