momagri was present at the French Salon International de l’Agriculture and the SIMA

March 4, 2013

This year, the French Salon International de l’Agriculture (SIA), which celebrated its 50th Anniversary, took place from the 23rd of February to the 3rd of March 2013. Over 700,000 visitors attended the Salon. And once again, the FNSEA invited momagri as a speaker on its exhibition stand, pavilion 4, dedicated to services and jobs in agriculture.

As Xavier Beulin, the President of the FNSEA, put it ‘The Salon is a show as well as an event that promotes exchange and dialogue’.

For the momagri founders and teams, this week was rich in opportunities for exchanging with both experts and the wider public on current farming issues: the future of the CAP, the vision of international institutions on global agriculture, natural and market hazards in a context of price volatility on the market for agricultural commodities. ‘Countering price fluctuations on the market for agricultural commodities', was one of the issues addressed by the President François Hollande during the opening speech he made for the Salon on the 23rd of February.

The global outlook for agriculture was also one of the essential topics of the 75th edition of the Paris International Agri-Business Show (SIMA) which took place from 24-28 February, and was inaugurated by a series of International Meetings. 9 symposiums were held, one of which was chaired by momagri on 25 February on food security and agricultural strategies: what strategy for a new global governance?

As part of its intervention at the SIA and the SIMA, momagri reasserted the founding missions that have been driving it since 2005 in raising awareness of the fact that Agriculture is both specific and strategic: promoting market regulation systems, developing exchanges, reinforcing research, fighting abusive speculation and subsidies, and lastly promoting all types of action aimed at providing information and raising awareness on agriculture and food.
